Cranial Osteopathy
What is cranial osteopathy?
Cranial osteopathy is a refined approach to osteopathy that uses a highly developed sense of touch to feel subtle changes in tension and tissue quality, helping to identify areas of strain or dysfunction. Despite its name, it can be applied to the whole body, not just the head.
Osteopaths are often drawn to areas affected by past accidents or injuries. Even if the body has adapted and the patient feels unaware of any issue, the effects of old trauma may still influence current symptoms.
Diagnosis and treatment are closely connected, with the aim of supporting the body’s natural ability to heal itself. By offering gentle, precise support, the osteopath helps tissues move towards balance and release, restoring health and function. This approach involves listening to the body’s own signals, which may reveal causes of symptoms beyond what the patient or osteopath initially expect, reducing the likelihood of problems returning.
